The 20th of March marked the start of the Holi Festival. It is held the day after the full moon in March each year. People spend the day smearing coloured powder all over each other's faces, throwing coloured water at each other, having parties, and dancing under water sprinklers.

It's not all fun and games for everyone though, with rituals being held as well. The emphasis of Holi rituals is on the burning of the demoness Holika. On the eve of Holi, large bonfires are lit to mark occasion and to burn evil spirits.

So in honour of the Holi Festival which unfortunately we were to busy to celebrate during the last couple of days, I have decided that this coming weekend My little family is going to have our own little Holi festival. We will decorate with balloons, build a fire, make fun colorful masks, and have a huge water/food dye fight. I'm very much looking forward to it. It's the perfect reason to have fun and get a bit messy. HAPPY HOLI EVERYONE!!! ♥
